Learning Thai traditional massage on Samui
Posted by admin on December 6th, 2007 filed in Spas and massage, Tourist tipsPascalle is a twenty year old Dutch student. She’s studying sociology in Amsterdam and recently had decided to take a ‘battery-charging’ gap year. For four months the energetic Pascal travelled across South East Asia and during the last part of her adventurous voyage she stayed on the gorgeous Thai island of Samui, where she learned the art of traditional Thai massage.
“This is definitely one of my trip’s finest experiences,” she enthusiastically says. “During my travels I often enjoyed a revitalising massage treatment”. “The massages all felt so relaxing so I wanted as soon as there would be an option, to learn some massage skills”. “It’s only because I find it interesting and once I return home, I can practice it on some of my best friends and family members”.
Practising a profession as massage therapist is not her goal. She eagerly would like to help improving the social situation for problematic behaving teenagers from Moroccan and Turkish descent in the Netherlands. Knowing that this job mentally can be much demanding, her massage skills would be beneficial. “I will teach my friends for free how to massage as well as It would be great if in the future, they could give me a relaxing massage at the end of a stressful working day”.
Pascalle’s Koh Samui massage course lasted five days. During this period she enjoyed 18 hours of massage lessons. There was still sufficient time left for recreation and sun-bathing on one of Koh Samui’s pretty beaches. The Dutch student smiles when she declares, “Next to the course, I fully enjoyed all the other recreational activities too”. “However, probably most appreciated were the 10 lessons, which were given by Noi”. “The highly acclaimed Wat Po in Bangkok is where Noi studied the art of Thai massage”. “It was amazing how she could motivate me to do plenty of practice”. “Noi also taught me, using my entire body for performing various massage strokes”.
Later Pascalle admitted that she always was worried about getting sour and painful hands during a massage session. This never happened and instead she experienced an energetic force. She proudly explained that by now she knew how to handle the most important human body’s pressure spots and could make patients feel totally relaxed.
Koh Samui offers several certificated massage courses for tourists. These courses are mainly created for general interest and self-development. Holidaymakers on Samui also have the option to join cooking or yoga courses. There is a professional resource available on the web, providing complete Koh Samui courses info.
