Koh Samui’s unique international airport

Probably the globe’s quaintest tiny international airport is positioned on tropical Samui Island. What makes this facility so unique is that the entire airport building is completely thatched over with leaves from palm trees. It is the airport’s sole terminal! Here you will not experience the scene of passengers rushing to gate numbers as there aren’t any. An efficient shuttle bus service deals provides convenient transportation to all the arriving and departing passengers. The just two minutes lasting service operates between the air crafts and the chief airport building.

Here you will not find large flight info screens and announcements sound equipment. The only activity exists out of cheerful travellers, unhurried carrying out their procedures. Their minds seem completely free from feelings of travel-related stress. Time isn’t important here.

There is a sole arrow-straight constructed runway to deal with both arriving and departing flight services. The total amount of daily services is never more than 20. The airport is operational from 6:30 to 18:30. The national carrier Bangkok Airways constructed the facility and is the owner as well. The airline can rightfully be proud of their unique and succeeded experiment. The airport buildings construction was completed in 1984 and they not solely please the eye but are also wonderfully integrated with the surrounding area of natural beauty. As the aircraft begins with its doses of gradual descents, while approaching the island’s northeastern part, passengers now can enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful bird’s eye panorama of Koh Samui as well as the other nearby positioned islands.
