The idyllic island of Samui
Posted by admin on January 7th, 2009 filed in Tourist tips, sightseeingSteadily ranking among the most stunning tourist hot-spots in Thailand, this self-styled Boutique Island boasts a selection of affordably priced superb hotels/resorts, breathtaking sun-soaked beaches, laid-back ambience, mouth-watering cuisine, a wide range of recreational activities, pulsating nightlife, areas of unbeatable natural beauty and some of South East Asia’s finest spas.
Over the years Koh Samui has drawn many foreign travellers, particularly from Europe. It is not surprising that numerous holidaymakers that came to Samui just to enjoy their well-deserved vacations weren’t able to avoid falling in love with this paradisiacal exotic island destination.
Many didn’t want to leave and decided to settle here resulting in Koh Samui’s large community of ex-pats. Due to the construction in the mid 1980s of an international airport it was assumed that Koh Samui would forever change its atmosphere—and not in a positive way.
Today Koh Samui boasts its airport, housed in a unique building, and even some major changes took place, the island remains a very enjoyable travel destination to go to. Koh Samui still features charming clean beach areas with enchanting blue-green coloured waters and a relaxed atmosphere—it is just that at presence there are four times as many tourists appreciating it as before.
