Na Thon

Na Thon is officially our only “town” here on Koh Samui. All the others, including Chaweng are actually considered “villages”. For all those arriving by boat from Surat Thani, Na Thon is where you will arrive and commence your escape to paradise. This is a great place to stop and book up diving trips and other tours on and around Koh Samui. Most of the travel agencies are located along Harbour Road and specialise in tours to the spectacular Anthong National Marine Park which is an absolutely beautiful archipelago of little islands situated about 30 kilometres west of Koh Samui. Boats to Anthong National Marine Park leave Na Thong daily, departing in the morning and returning that evening.

You’ll quickly discover the charm of Na Thon, with its relaxed lifestyle and easy-going approach to life. There are a number of markets including a wet market which is a great place to shop for fresh fruit and vegetables as well as divine seafood. Lots of Thai spices and ingredients can also be found, so to my fellow food-lovers, I urge you strongly to spend a good amount of time here! The Na Thon wet market is located on Taweeraj Pakdee Road, and like most Thai food markets, is best visited in the morning.

Another place well worth a stroll is Anthong Road, located between Taweeraj Pakdee Road and Harbour Road. There are a number of quaint little souvenir shops selling local handicrafts as well as quite a few restaurants.

For those looking to head to Chaweng and other beaches, buses leave Na Thon daily from just near the ferry pier.
