Secret Buddha Garden

The Secret Buddha Garden absolutely must not be missed. It is a gem of an attraction, and will provide for an entertaining experience for the whole family. The Secret Buddha Garden is located in the beautiful green hills of Koh Samui, and was built by a local fruit farmer Nim Thongsuk in 1967. Amazingly, he was 77 years of age when he built the Secret Buddha Garden.

Whilst the Secret Buddha Garden is magnificent in its own right, part of the fun is the scenic and exhilarating adventure that is the trip to and from the Secret Buddha Garden. As the only concrete road going to the Secret Buddha Garden is actually a military road that is not open for public use, the only way to get to and from the Secret Buddha Garden is to take a jeep and travel through the jungle, rivers and mountains which surround the garden. The trip to the Secret Buddha Garden departs from Lamai Temple, and takes about 2 hours. As the driving is quite hard-going, it is recommended that visitors book a safari tour which takes you to the Secret Buddha Garden and includes a guided tour whilst there.

The Secret Buddha Garden is itself an incredibly magical experience, with a variety of Buddha statues, jungle like surrounds. The stone carvings are particularly fascinating, and wandering through the valley with its stream and overgrown vines makes for a very tranquil, cool place to escape the heat and enjoy a hot afternoon on Koh Samui.
