Visiting Wat Kiri Wongkaram

Koh Samui island is a among the top tourist destination in Thailand because of the many things one can do on the island. And if you are in Samui and you are wondering what to do during the day, a visit to the (temple) Wat Kiri Wongkaram is a good place for those who love photography and architecture. The temple was built around 1900 and is found on the 4169 ring road between the Na Muang waterfalls and Hua Thanon.

This temple is most famous because of the mummified body of Samui’s most famous monk, Loung Pordaeng which is on display. The monk is believed to have died more than 25 years ago, but because of good preparation for mummification, his body is still in good condition and some even believe that his hair and finger nails continue to grow.

They are so many ways to get to the Wat Kiri Wongkaram, you could follow 4170 south from Ban Saket, then turn right between the two giant elephant statues(gate) and look for the temple 1KM further along the road or take 4169 ring road between the Na Muang waterfalls and the Hua Thanon.
