The Lazy Coconut at Maenam

Koh Samui’s plentiful wining and dining establishments range from simple bamboo shacks and beer bars to state-of-the-art dance clubs and eateries serving the finest epicurean delights. The Lazy Coconut at Maenam is a great place to hang out and always seems to have a good crowd of expats and foreign visitors in. The pub has a pool table and darts board as well as large screen TVs which show live sports fixtures from around the globe.

A varied drinks menu has draught beer as well as a full range of locally produced bottled beers. For those missing beers from home a can of John Smith’s, cider or Guinness is like manna from heaven. Weihenstephan wheat beer from Germany is sold at 100 Baht a bottle. A bargain when compared to Bangkok or Phuket. The drinks list has a great selection of wines and cocktails. Check out the jugs of Sangria.

The food menu is comprehensive with pub-grub favourites including steak pie and fish and chips on it. There is also an all-day breakfast option and the Lazy Coconut’s website claims it serves up the best Sunday roast on the island. Friends say the Massaman curry with prawns is unsurpassed in southern Thailand. The kitchen is open from 12:00 to 22:30 and the bar closes at 01:00. There is a pub quiz at the Lazy Coconut on alternate Fridays and also the occasional live band. Additional details available at Lazy Home.
